How not to make money

The average yield on six-month "jumbo" CDs, which typically require deposits of $95,000 or more fell to 0.16% from 0.17% last week.  The yield on five year jumbos remained unchanged from 0.79%.

A $100,000 CD held for one year would earn you $160 in interest.

The average yields on small denomination "savings" CDs were mostly unchanged at 0.15%.  The average two year yield also remained unchanged.  The average five year yield, however, fell to 0.76%.

A $10,000 CD held for one year would earn you $15 in interest.
